Respite care that gives everyone an actual break

Planned or short-notice, at home or away, built around what your family actually needs, not a one-size arrangement.

Carers need breaks too, and it shouldn't take a crisis to get one. Respite care is there so you can step away for a weekend, catch up on sleep, or just have a day that isn't scheduled around someone else's needs, knowing your family member is genuinely well looked after while you're gone.

We run respite two ways: planned, booked ahead so we can line up a worker who already knows your family; and short-notice, for when something comes up and you need support faster than usual. Both matter, and we try to be upfront about which one we can actually deliver on any given day rather than overpromising.

What's included

  • Planned respite breaks, booked ahead of time
  • Short-notice support when something comes up unexpectedly
  • In-home respite, or short-term stay support where that's what's funded
  • Support workers your family already knows, wherever the roster allows
  • A clear, honest answer on timing: we won't promise same-day if we can't deliver it

How we keep it familiar

Where we can, we roster the same workers your family already trusts for respite, rather than sending someone new for what's meant to be a break, not another adjustment period. For longer or more complex respite arrangements, we talk it through properly first: what a "good" break actually looks like for your family member, not just for the calendar.

Funding and getting started

Respite typically sits under Core Supports or as Short Term Accommodation (STA) in your plan, depending on what's funded and how it's delivered. If you're not sure what your plan actually allows for, our support coordination team can check before you commit to anything. Better to know upfront than find out mid-booking.
